The field supervisor, in consultation with the mentor classroom teacher, should complete this assessment of the student-teacher near the end of the student-teaching practicum. Ratings should be based on the holistic assessment of the student-teacher's overall performance in the preparation and implementation of classroom lessons and effectiveness in achieving student learning outcomes as evidenced by observations and teaching artifacts (such as those in the C I 495E portfolio).

  • D (1) = Observed Difficulty (the student-teacher's difficulty in providing instruction and improving student learning along the standard was evidenced throughout the practicum)
  • NO = Not Observed (there is insufficient evidence available to determine level of performance)

Across the totality of the practicum, the social studies student-teacher demonstrated ability to make connections in lesson design and teaching as well as to achieve positive effects on student learning along each of the NCSS thematic standards below, as appropriate to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Academic Standards for Civics & Government, Economics, Geography, and History (except 1.4 and 1.8, which are not in the Pennsylvania standards.
