Michael Harvey is a Professor of Education in the Workforce Education and Development academic program at the Pennsylvania State University where he teaches and serves as the academic advisor for CTE Leadership. Prior to returning to Penn State he served as Professor of Special Education and was the Director of the Doctoral program and the Program Manager for the Director of Exceptional Needs licensure program in the Department of Special Education at Ball State University. Harvey was a former CTE administrator in Maine. His research focuses on post school follow-up and student outcomes, with special attention to special populations and students with disabilities. His recent work focuses on career and technical education (CTE) knowledge and skills core competencies, CTE standards for administration and leadership, and secondary CTE for students with disabilities related to goodness of fit.

Harvey teaches graduate courses in career and technical education (CTE) leadership, history and philosophical foundations of workforce education, and curriculum and supervision in Penn State’s Workforce Education and Development academic program.

Education History

Harvey earned academic degrees from the University of Maine at Farmington in special education and elementary education (BS, 1980), University of Maine in special education exceptionalities (MS, 1986), University of Southern Maine in educational administration (MS, 1991), and the Pennsylvania State University in workforce education and development (PhD, 1998).
