Full description of retention statement and adherence to professional ethics.

Student Retention Statement

The Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Programs within the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education at Penn State are committed to the Ethical Standards developed by relevant professional organizations, including The American Psychological Association (APA, 1990), The American Counseling Association (ACA, 2005), the Unified Rehabilitation Code (1987), and American College Personnel Association (ACPA, 1989). Faculty are committed to these standards in their functioning as researchers, teachers, clinicians, and clinical supervisors.

Students in the Department are expected to be familiar with and to adhere to which ever standards are relevant to their professional orientation. In addition, a Student Retention Statement has been developed and accepted by the faculty. This statement describes situations when a student's professional behavior may be called into question by a faculty member and the ensuing steps available to safeguard students, clients, and research subjects.
